On November 20, the band will continue its series of concerts featuring great masterpieces of music and world-class soloists with a performance of César Franck’s “Symphony in D Minor” and Alexander Arutunian’s “Concerto for Trumpet” featuring San Antonio’s own Andrew Gignac as soloist. Also included on the program will be Sir Malcolm Arnold’s “Little Suite for Brass, Op. 80,” a work which has become a staple of the concert band world where it is known as “Prelude, Siciliano and Rondo.”

Andrew Gignac is an Associate Professor of Music at San Antonio College where he teaches music theory, trumpet, and conducts the Jazz Ensemble. He is the principal trumpet of the Mid-Texas Symphony. He is also principal trumpet of the San Antonio Opera and performs regularly with the San Antonio Symphony.
