Susan Bell

Susan holds Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education (Trinity University) and Music Composition (UT Austin). She has worked in the Music field for over 26 years as a Middle School Band Director, a Church Organist, Accompanist, Choir Director, Handbell Director, and a Praise Band pianist. Her first love is always her Private Piano Studio, which typically has about 25 students.
Although not yet published, she has many compositions and arrangements to her name. Susan composes for a wide variety of ensembles; to include pieces for School jazz bands, Woodwind Quintet, Brass Quintet, Flute/Clarinet solos with piano, Cello solos with piano, Solo voice and Organ pieces for Church services. A few of the more notable selections include her original Choral piece, “Build Not Your Treasures on Earth” which has been performed by Church choirs in Texas and Virginia. Another, is her choral arrangement of Amazing Grace called, “God’s Amazing Grace”. “Castle Rock of Edinburgh” is her first Concert Band piece.
In her spare time, she enjoys photography and creating video slideshows. Her most recent production was for the Heart of Texas Concert Band concert on Feb. 9th: a video illustrating the majesty of Yellowstone National Park which accompanied the band’s piece “Yellowstone Portraits” by James Barnes. Other projects include the Senior Class DVD (2 years) for the Robert E. Lee High School Baccalaureate in Virginia, several videos for Military Retirement Ceremonies, and a Boy Scout recruitment video about the Philmont Scout Ranch High Adventure experience.
Susan is a member of Texas Music Educators Association, San Antonio Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers National Association. She lives in Garden Ridge with her husband, Steve; son, Thomas; and their 5 pets.
