Russell Barbee

Russell is a graduate of Randolph High School and holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX). While at Texas Tech, Russell was a 4 year member of both the Goin’ Band from Raiderland and the Court Jesters basketball band. He was also a 4 year member of Kappa Kappa Psi (Band service fraternity). After graduating in 2008, he worked as an assistant band director at Whittier Middle School in San Antonio ISD teaching 6th – 8th grade. He is currently the band director at Schlather Intermediate School in Schertz – Cibolo – Universal City ISD teaching 5th and 6th grade beginners.
Russell is a 4 year member of the Heart of Texas Concert Band where he plays tenor saxophone. In his spare time, he is a member of the church choir at St. Helena’s Catholic Church. Russ has an immense interest in technology he likes to include elements of musical technology in his lessons as much as possible.~ One of his favorite hobbies is learning new instruments and Russ tries to play something new every year he teaches.~ Russell is also a member of the Texas Music Educators Association. He lives in Schertz with his wife, Stacey (a HTxCB Trumpet player) and their 2 pets.
