Chase Failing is the Director of Bands at Poth ISD in Poth, Texas. In this role, he conducts the Poth Wind Ensemble, directs the Mighty Pirate Marching Band and Jazz Band, and oversees the district-wide music curriculum for grades K–12.

Since taking the helm at Poth High School, Chase has elevated the band program’s reputation for excellence. The ensembles under his direction consistently receive superior ratings in both marching and concert evaluations. Recent accomplishments include advancing as 2025 Area Finalists, being selected as a 2026 Battle of Flowers Feature Band, and earning multiple superior ratings with chamber ensembles at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest. In 2025 and 2026, the Poth High School band was represented in the ATSSB All-State Concert Band. In 2023, the Poth Wind Ensemble received a special invitation to perform at the Tobin Center in San Antonio as part of the YOSA Invitational concert series.

Before his appointment at Poth ISD, Chase served as Assistant Band Director at Harlandale High School in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from Texas State University, studying under Dr. Caroline Beatty, and received his Bachelor of Music in Music Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Chase is dedicated to developing well-rounded musicians who excel technically, artistically, and personally. He believes strongly in the power of music education to build discipline, teamwork, and community. He serves on the A/V team at St. Nicholas Hill Country Episcopal Church and spends time with his lovely wife and two beautiful daughters, with a third girl on the way.
